Nestling into the brow of the foothills of Sao Miguel with panoramic sea views, mature gardens and a large 10m x 5.5m pool, this ancient paradise of farmhouses, amid rambling gardens, have been lovingly restored to retain their rustic Algarvean charm. At the same time, each cosy cottage provides every modern amenity, including a fully equipped kitchen, air-conditioning, WI-FI, satellite TV & Internet etc.
Called Monte Velho (traditionally meaning an old community) the estate offers an ideal retreat in the sun yet close to all amenities, bars and restaurants and the gorgeous sandy coastline with numerous unspoilt beaches.
The layout is perfect for larger groups who want a to spend time together, yet have some privacy, due to the three separate fully equipped cottages.
The Monte Velho retreat normally accommodates 12 people in the 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms provided in the 3 cottages, with the possibility of increasing this to 16 for larger groups.
All 3 cottages have wood burners & BBQs and private terraces which link up with pathways through the lovely gardens to the communal pool and terrace area.
All have spectacular views.
All bedrooms are air-conditioned.
Description of the 3 cottages:
The Cottages are called Catarina, Helena and Maria.
Catarina is a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom (both ensuite) detached cottage, with one ensuite bedroom in the main building and an annex housing the second ensuite bedroom. Private patios shaded by palm & olive trees. Private parking on an “eira” (an old threshing ring).
Helena also has 2 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms, with a separate lounge & dining room. Split-level patio with sea view, & private parking on the side.
Maria, the largest, has a split-level lounge & dining/kitchen area and 2 bedrooms ensuite. Ample patio, shaded by 300-year old carob tree. Private parking in back.
