Travel Purpose: business

Positive: We enjoyed the fact that it was a little off the beaten track. We got a bit more of an authentic experience. There was local market 5mins walk that had pretty much everything you needed, Fresh bread, milk, wine, cheese and fresh produce. We enjoyed some of the eating place, again 5min walk, with proper Portuguese meals that had to be translated for us. We enjoyed the BBQ facilities and the outside eating area a few times and there was enough crockery and cutlery variety for most of what we needed. Things that were also provided in the kitchen, was salt, pepper, small sugar, olive oil and dish soap. Ubers was pretty easy to get and reasonably priced if more than 3 people are staying. There were busses that went most places that we wanted go to with bus stops just 3min walk from the house, even if we did not use them. Magoito beach was really close with a seafood restaurant with amazing food and a sandy beach to walk along the cliffs and swim in. Azenhas do Mar Beach was also close with fantastic views a swimming beach and beach bar and restaurant. Keep in mind you have to climb over boulders to get to the actual beach. Sintra was about 30mins with the Uber and had plenty to do. As well as getting the Tram to go to das Maçãs Beach. Also a lovely swimming beach not to far from the house. Cascais was about 40min with the Uber but also worth the day out. Overall I would recommend it if you want the more authentic experience. We loved it here and the people were very friendly.

Negative: Just a few things to consider. The coffee cups were too small. We ended up buying cups as souvenirs to have a decent cup sizes. There is plenty of cider or wine glasses but there was only short tumblers available. If you drink vodka and coke be prepared to drink out a cider glass. The coffee machine just wouldn't work right and there is only a small sandwich press no toaster, although there is an oven to do toast under the grill. In the bathroom, the shower door would not close properly and water made the floor pretty slippery and there wasn't some form of shelf inside the shower for toiletries. This made it a little difficult for someone with mobility problems. The bedrooms were sufficient, but there was only one pillow per person and it was the thick memory foam ones. Personally I couldn't use them they are to hard and thick and I had to used my travel neck pillow to sleep on. The conservatory rooms retractable roof was not working but it would have been lovely to use if there was some seating in it. Our only other thing was that maybe the owners could add and extra service of first day shopping list for an extra cost. It would have made it a lot easier for us since we arrived so late in the evening on a Sunday and the market was also not open on the Monday.
