Summary: We really enjoyed our stay. Charming little house with a loft bedroom. Nice modern decoration in a compact space. The back patio, overlooking a large field and trees made us feel like we were staying in the countryside, yet we were any easy 10-15 minute walk from the center of Tomar. Rita, our host, was amazing. Friendly, but never intrusive. She went out of her way to assist when one of us was not feeling well. She arranged for a doctor to make a house call (imagine a doctor in the US doing that!) and then picked up the prescribed medicine at a pharmacy. She checked in to see how we were feeling. Very caring! A number of things set this apart from other VRBO’s we stayed at in Portugal. Rita arranged for fresh bread and a wonderful breakfast sandwich delivered each morning from a local bakery. She also supplied and restocked the small kitchen and refrigerator with cheese, cold cuts, butter, fruit, yogurt, milk, coffee and eggs. It was a wonderful added bonus. She has three friendly dogs who love to play fetch. Pico would bring his ball each morning to the back patio door and wait for my husband to come out with his coffee and then throw the ball into the field. We felt like we made new furry friends! The large king bed was the most comfortable bed of our trip. There was good heat and cooling and a lots of hot water for the shower. All welcomed on the chilly Autumn mornings. Definitely a welcoming and comfortable place to call “home” during our visit to Portugal.
