Take it easy at this unique and tranquil getaway. Set beneath the Serra da Lousã, Quinta do Areal is an historic country house and farm set in over 12 hectares of pasture, forest and olive groves. Guests come here to relax, slow down and recharge. Come and meet some of the animals. Take a hike in the hills. Visit the local schist mountain villages.
Guests enjoy a choice of self-catering accommodation either in a self-contained apartment within the main house or the "Casa do Cavalo" just next door (within our grounds). Each has its own ground-floor entrance, a large double bedroom, large bathroom with walk-in shower and a fully equipped kitchen-dining room-living room, a double sofa-bed, flat screen TV and fast WIFI. Casa do Cavalo also features its own study/second bedroom.
Guests have access to their own garden area but are welcome to wander around our 12 hectares of gardens and fields.
We can provide guests with information on a range of things to do, places to visit and places to eat locally.
We are set apart from any neighbours, surrounded by woodland and pastures and beneath the Serra da Lousã mountains. Yet only 3 minutes drive or 15 minutes walk from the town of Lousã, with all its amenities. 25 minutes drive from the University City of Coimbra and easy access to the airports and cities of Lisbon and Porto.
Our beautiful old stone-built manor house stays cool even through the hottest days in summer and with central heating to keep warm in winter.
Access is best by car, with parking onsite behind our secure entrance gate.
Subject to availability, guests may be able to book into one of our yoga classes or to hire our electric mountain bikes to explore the wonderful trails in the Serra da Lousã. Alternatively, we can give you information about the local area and others activities, such as hiking, kayaking, canyoning, river beaches, archeological sites and towns to visit.
