Summary: A slightly odd stay, the resort had potential but seemed a bit neglected. The hotel itself was behind a factory for bottled water, further up into the resort was pretty. There was nobody on reception when we got there, another couple were waiting too, they’d tried phoning, social media, email and no answer. I decided to wander off, asked in a bar and they directed me to a different reception in a different hotel. I messaged my partner and the other couple came up too. This would be easily solved with a sign on the desk saying to go to the other reception 5 mins walk away. The room itself was nice and clean and there was a sweet note left about enjoying our stay. We tried to eat in the restaurant at the hotel the first night after they’d told us on reception there was room, they hadn’t told us we needed to make a reservation, when we got to the restaurant they told us there was no room. The hotel isn’t near any other restaurants, luckily we got to a tapas bar in Monchique town 15 mins before it closed and they let us eat there (it was lovely) we’d have struggled if not as there was nowhere else still open in Monchique including the shop. We had a wee swim in the outdoor pool in the sun on the last morning which was nice, the bar on the resort was also nice. So a mixed bag, the issues we had would be a relatively easy fix with better communication.
